A small firm, on purpose
Aether Engineering gives owners and project teams direct access to a licensed engineer who has worked every stage of a building system's life: design, sequences of operations, commissioning plans, submittal review, functional testing, and the follow-through that gets issues closed.

Edward Gillett, PE, CxA
Principal Engineer
Edward leads every Aether Engineering project personally, from the first proposal through the final report. His work spans new construction and existing buildings in healthcare, higher education and research labs, hospitality, data centers, offices, and federal facilities, on both coasts.
He has written sequences of operations, built commissioning plans and test matrices for multi-building programs, run functional tests, and traced failures back through controls, airflow, and hydronics to their root cause. That range is the point: the engineer reviewing your design is the same one who will test it.

How we work
One engineer, start to finish
The person who writes your proposal reviews the design, witnesses the tests, and signs the report. You always know who to call.
Independent by design
No ties to designers, contractors, controls vendors, or manufacturers, so findings are not softened to protect a relationship.
Evidence, not opinions
Findings come with trend data, photos, and test results, written so the responsible party can act on them without a meeting.
Built for travel
Projects nationwide, with remote BAS and trend review between visits so site time goes to testing.
Licensing and service area
Aether Engineering works nationwide. Engineering work that requires a professional engineer's seal is provided only in states where the firm and its engineer hold the required license and authorization, currently Florida and California. Commissioning, energy audit, and energy modeling services that do not require a seal are available in all states, subject to local requirements we confirm before proposing.
